Women's PV Workshops |
There is no better time to get into the Photovoltaic market than now. SEI is proud to be hosting it’s 11th annual Women’s PV class in two locations this year. This extremely popular class has been well attended by women from all over the country and world looking to gain technical knowledge on how to design and install code compliant PV systems. This class is taught by leading women in the field specifically for women wanting to get into the industry. Come experience this empowering class with us!
Why Women Only?
Our women’s only workshops are intended to provide women with a supportive learning atmosphere. Even women with hands-on experience already working in technical fields find it helpful and rewarding to network with other women who are interested in and/or working in renewable energy.

Ecology and Renewables in Ecuador
|
SEI just completed its first workshop in Ecuador, and it was a huge success. Participants installed a PV lighting system and built a methane biodigestor at Rio Muchacho Organic Farm. The PV system will help keep the lights on during the constant blackouts at the farm, and the biodigestor will take pig manure and turn it into methane gas for heating water and will produce organic fertilizer. SEI would like to thank Direct Power & Water, Midnite Solar, and C. Crane Company for their generous donations to the project.
There's still a chance to learn about Appropriate Technology for the Developing World in SEI's workshop in Chiapas, Mexico - April 20 - 27.
If you'd like to learn more about sustainable agriculture in Ecuador take a one month agriculture and permaculture course at Rio Muchacho Organic Farm. |

Implement RE Curriculum into your Classroom
|
This summer SEI is offering hands-on edcuation to youth educators in our Renewable Energy for Educators workshop. Participants will learn about the impacts our energy use has on the planet and how to best teach youth about solutions: energy conservation, energy efficiency, and renewable energy technologies. Each day will include a hands-on element that can be employed in the classroom. In addition, participants will walk away with practical and technical knowledge that they can apply in their own lives. Integrating renewable energy education into youth development can provide an element of excitement for science education and hope for the future. This workshop has been designed to meet the 5th -9th grade Colorado Science Standards (although youth educators of all ages are encouraged to participate!)

SEI Alum Brings Biodiesel to Cambodia
|
SEI alum and former biodiesel instructor Tim Waterfield has started a new organization in Cambodia based on biodiesel. Planet Biodiesel provides food, clothing, education, transportation and school supplies to impoverished Khmer kids that otherwise wouldn't be able to afford to go to school.
Tim built a biodiesel reactor which runs the school bus and
diesel generator. They're doing everything eco friendly: they use waste vegetable oil, recover alcohol, treat waste water, make soap, and recycle. They also offer biodiesel tours of Cambodia. |
